5 Months and Counting....

I can stand up now!

I know I am a few days late with this post, but rest assured, the pictures were actually taken on her 5 month Birthaversary.

The update from the farm: Kaelyn has recently learned that her legs do actually work and has learned to stand up and bear all her weight on her legs. She can hold herself up pretty well, she just doesn't have any balance, so she will topple over without support. You will also see in the video that Kaelyn has recently found her voice. She is constantly making noise, and likes to talk about her problems and discuss celebrity gossip, but she tends to steer clear of topics such as politics. I am fairly certain she is trying to mimic sounds, she just doesn't quite know how to produce the sound she is looking for.

Another big milestone is that we took the "baby stopper" out of her baby bathtub. She used to have a little plastic piece on the bottom of her tub that kept her from sliding, but she would just arch her back and slide herself over the piece anyway, so we took it out and let her stretch out...
pretty funny!

Enjoy the latest videos... To sum it up: Kaelyn likes her hands better than rice cereal and is confused that her feet make noise!

Exhuaustion...

Kaelyn gets her first experience with Dunkin Donuts

The picture I have to keep in mind when Kaelyn is screaming bloody-murder

Ahhh, the things that all the baby books neglect to tell parents. Someday, I might write a parenting book that tells you all of the useful things to know that the available books don't cover. For example: What do you do when you hear your daughter making explosive diarrhea in her carrier while you are getting blood drawn from your arm? Or what to do when you notice your child has projectile vomitted on some merchandise inside of a store? Or even what to do when you become "that parent" whose child is screaming inside of the restaurant and there is seemingly little you can do about it. Kaelyn used to be so easy...now she is giving us a run for our money.

We just got back from a short trip to Arizona. Although it was unfortunate circumstances, as my grandmother passed away, at least Kaelyn was able to meet her great-grandmother before it happened. Kaelyn and her cousin Gracie were awesome in the long car ride!

The Pumpkin Patch

We started off the Jacob Family tradition of going to the pumpkin patch at Bates Nut Farm today. Kaelyn wasn't too sure what to think of the whole thing, but she did seem to have a rather negative opinion about her Halloween costume. I am not sure if she thought it was uncomfortable or embarrassing, but she much preferred her pumpkin hat.

The Celebrity Rolly-Polly

What a busy few days! Kaelyn decided that she was tired of listening to me tell people that she did not know how to roll over, so on Friday night, she proved she could...over, and over, and over. By the time we got out the camera and captured it on film, it took a little extra work to get her over, but she still did it.

Today, we took her to get her first formal portraits taken. She did really well, and we were asked to sign a release form so that the company could use her picture on the wall in the store. So in a week or so, if anyone is loitering around North County Fair, look at the walls of the Picture People for this photo. I know you aren't supposed to use the pictures they take, but I couldn't help but post it here. Too cute!!!

4 Months!

Happy 4 month Birthaversary!

Kaelyn decided that she wanted to do her first full-blown laugh today. In the bathtub, she was cracking up for a full 15 seconds of belly-laughter...very cute! She also tried out her Jenny-jump-up today. She doesn't really get the concept of "jumping" in it, as she doesn't exactly know how to make her legs work yet, but she did manage to spin herself around a little! Oh great, ballet classes may be in our future.

My Dad is OLD!

Happy 30th Birthday Dad!

Kaelyn went to her second Birthday party yesterday, this one for her dad who turned 30. She had a great time watching her dad play slosh ball and hang out with family and friends.

Although Kaelyn is still pretty small, she is storing up a nice layer of body fat for the winter, and now looks like a giant compared to her cousin Gracie.
